With the lifting this week by the Minister of Health of all Covid-19 regulations, the Joburg Theatre has been opened to full capacity for the forthcoming performances of La Traviata -The Ballet for the first time since March 2020. The wearing of masks at the theatre is now optional and there will be no signing-in procedures and taking of temperatures; no proof of vaccination is required. The theatre will continue to provide hand sanitizer for the optional use of theatre patrons. The lifting of socially distanced seating in the theatre will not in any way impact bookings that have already been made for performances of La Traviata -The Ballet. Commenting on the lifting of the Covid-19 regulations, Joburg Ballet CEO Esther Nasser said: “Joburg Ballet, together with the entire arts, entertainment and events industries In South Africa, welcomes the lifting of the regulations. Not only does it mean we are one step further in the journey of leaving the pandemic behind us but it also represents a huge gesture of welcome to our audiences to return to the theatre to enjoy the world class ballet Joburg Ballet is committed to presenting for the people of South Africa. Now is the time for us all to support the ballet and to confirm Joburg Ballet’s standing as a major South African cultural institution. We look forward to seeing you at La Traviata -The Ballet from 1 to 10 July and at our many performances in the future.”
