Joburg Ballet School

Training follows the Cecchetti methodology, providing students with a strong technical foundation while developing musicality, discipline, artistry, creativity and confidence. The School is led by experienced dance educators and professionals Thabani Ntuli, Carmen Patterson, Shereen Mathebula and Tshego Masoabi.

From the Studio to the Stage

As part of Joburg Ballet, students benefit from unique opportunities to learn from and work alongside professional dancers, choreographers and teachers. Students gain professional performance experience through participation in Joburg Ballet productions and performances, allowing them to experience the demands and excitement of performing on stage.

The School offers a progressive pathway from foundational training through to senior and pre-professional development, with talented students able to progress into the Joburg Ballet Aspirant Programme and, ultimately, towards a professional career with the Company.

Through performances, workshops, masterclasses and repertoire experiences, students are encouraged to develop as well-rounded young artists while gaining an understanding of the professional dance world.

Developing Talent. Creating Opportunity.

Joburg Ballet School is committed to making quality ballet training accessible to young people from diverse backgrounds. Through supported training opportunities, scholarships and partnerships, the School continues to broaden access to ballet and nurture the next generation of South African dancers.
