On Friday 9 April, the curtain of the Mandela Stage at Joburg Theatre went up on "Ballet and Beyond", the spectacular and much-needed offering of live performances by Joburg Ballet.
The City of Joburg was abuzz with excitement as our supporters came from near and far to help fill the 960-seater auditorium that was now legally permitted to host 250 guests. Returning to our home stage at the Joburg Theatre and hosting a socially distant audience was a necessary remedy to cure the many scars that a 13-month absence of live performances could have caused!
To the company dancers, choreographers, technical crew and the artistic team lead by artistic director Mr Iain MacDonald and ballet mistress Mrs Lauren Slade, you ALL shared so much with your audiences and it comes as no surprise that they wanted more. Thank you for giving so much to so many, all in the name of art.
