Kim Vieira was born in Johannesburg and studied at the National School of the Arts. She started her career as a dancer with The State Theatre Ballet in the 1990s before moving to the Dutch National Ballet for ten years and after that to Cape Town City Ballet as a principal dancer, senior principal dancer and répétiteur for twelve years. As a dancer, Kim performed in an extensive repertoire of ballets by many of the world’s great choreographers and ballet producers, among them Frederick Ashton, David Bintley, Natalia Makarova, Hans Van Manen, Rudi Van Dantzig, Kenneth MacMillan, Ronald Hynd, George Balanchine, Choo San Goh, Veronica Paeper and Lynn Wallis. On passing her Cecchetti Associates (Teachers), she now brings her experience to younger dancers in South Africa and is currently completing her Cecchetti Associate Diploma. Spreading her horizons, Kim owns Dancebykim DBK, a bespoke leotard company servicing national and international clients, and has become a licenced GYROTONIC® trainer. Along with rehab and wellbeing, she is also a Sports and Holistic Massage therapist and has completed a two-year business course in Business Principles and Practice.
