Revil Yon was born in Uitenhage, South Africa, and started dancing at age 14 in Port Elizabeth. In 2012, when he was 18, he joined Cape Town City Ballet as a Graduate and a year later became a member of the company. In 2016, he was promoted to Senior Artist and subsequently to Soloist. In 2011 he was a finalist in the Cecchetti Cyril Beaumont Bursary and in 2015 received the Keith Mackintosh Prague Scholarship, attending the Prague Master Classes the following year.
While with Cape Town City Ballet he danced roles in Giselle, Swan Lake, The Sleeping Beauty, The Nutcracker, Coppélia, Romeo and Juliet and ballets by John Neumeier as well as working with choreographers Ashley Killar, Kirsten Isenberg, Yarisha Singh and Kirvan Fortuin. He has danced for youth companies in Port Elizabeth and East London as well as in community development initiatives.
